In the future, Green would love to establish an entire Black Studies department at his school, exploring Black cuisine, literature, culture, and fashion. He and Marguerite have dedicated their lives’ work and much of their spare time to encouraging and coaching young people, and they would love to bring the kind of experience tht he had at San Jose State to teens of all races. Marguerite says that she’d love for many others to take the baton from them and continue expanding ethnic studies programs around the country. Green would also love to see the class grow beyond its current level of 90 students and witness the dawn of many more ethnic studies courses at Bishop O'Dowd. “Ethnic and indigenous studies should be foundational, and we need to prioritize them. Having a next generation who can work together is worth the investment. Our economy is worth 25-30 trillion dollars; I think we can afford it.” He says he’s 100 percent inspired by his students. “I’ve been in education for 44 years, and each new class re-energizes me. I love seeing students get a sense of who they are and becoming proud of that.” Sign Up Already have an account? Sign In
