“Corporations such as Africa50, GMU Africa, and African Development Bank have all shown interest in the development of KIC, some with sizable investments”.

A nother advancement in Rwanda worthy of note is the kLab (knowledge Lab). Established in 2012, Kigali's kLab is a prominent tech innovation hub in Rwanda's capital city, providing a collaborative space for young entrepreneurs and developers. The establishment offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and resources to support the growth of Rwanda's tech ecosystem and foster digital innovation. Over the decades, kLab has become a renowned hub for innovation in Kigali. It is an open space for all entrepreneurs and innovators who want to work on their ideas, and they are given the opportunity to be mentored by experienced innovators who have made a name in the tech world.

But kLab and KIC aren't the only spaces seeding innovation: Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali, operated by the Westerwelle Foundation—a German-based nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by Dr. Guido Westerwelle and Ralph Dommermuth—serves to promote entrepreneurial spirit among students and graduates, encourage social and economic growth, and provide job opportunities in mostly developing countries. For established scientists and technologists, there's Leapr Labs, whose mission is to provide long- lasting solutions to the challenges that have hindered Africa's socioeconomic development using cutting- edge research and technology. Both initiatives—and still others—have incurred huge successes, putting Rwanda's Kigali squarely into technological conversations worldwide.
