T hanks to the city’s resilience and commitment to development and rejuvenation, Kigali has successfully changed its narrative from a former warzone to one of the safest places in Africa. Additionally, the Rwandan government’s enthusiasm for scientific development has laid the groundwork for tremendous advancement in the technology sector. Thanks to visionary leadership, Kigali and the entire nation of Rwanda are transforming into a digital landscape with diverse technological opportunities for entrepreneurs locally and internationally. Foreseeing a future where technology sets the pace for economic growth and improves the standard of living—enhancing the quality of life for its citizens—the Rwandan government has implemented policies to foster innovation. These policies go hand in hand with

welcoming all aspects of technological advancement in all its social and economic spheres. Over the years, the government of Rwanda has opened its arms to a partnership in its programs, both social and economic, which aim to benefit the people of Rwanda. Together, the government and other interested sponsors/investors with similar goals and visions, cooperate to establish Rwanda and Africa, more broadly, as a technological and educational haven. The Kigali Innovation City (KIC) is a promising project currently propelling the growth of the city’s tech space. It’s one of the fastest- growing government-sponsored projects of its kind. KIC, a 61-hectare urban development scheme, is on the brink of becoming an oasis of education and technological proficiency in Africa—Africa’s very own Silicon Valley.

For years, the government has not only established measures to support and aid technological development in the country but has also partnered with tech companies like Andela, Zipline, SafeMotos, and green micro-mobility companies such as GURARIDE, among others.
