A frica’s economy will flourish with it won’t be the only thing that blooms. With their ingredients sourced directly from the planet, Nokware’s eco-conscious achievements nurture our skin and the Earth. By shying away from single-use plastics, Nokware has innovatively repurposed natural materials like bamboo, raffia, and their native calabashes for all their packaging. Starting with Nokware’s very first product, Tutuwa Ahwoi took the time to research the best possible way to make an all-consumingly healthy beauty product. Their neem oil black soap works wonders for acne and hyperpigmentation and is wrapped in jute, raffia, calabashes, Nokware Skincare’s growing success, but and paper labeling to keep their most popular product completely organic.

N okware also places a lot of importance on representation. The company is privy to the unfortunate hits to the self-esteem of young African women across the region due to the cosmetic industry’s consistent promotion of lighter and whiter women as the face of beauty. With Nokware using darker skin complexions in its marketing efforts, its positive effect on skin care spans beyond its products. They ensure that all women get a seat at the cosmetics table, and their advertising efforts solidify the change they’re enacting.

“That whole calabash packaging is very eco-friendly, very natural… For us, I think that would be the most perfectly curated product because the contents are pure and natural and good, and the packaging as well is just wonderful,” states Tutuwa Ahwoi. “Your first product being exactly the values and the ethos of the brand is very difficult to do… It will always be part of our brand and identity because it’s so uniquely us,” Akyaa Ahwoi adds, identifying how much they satiated consumer appetites for clean beauty from their introductory concoction. All in all, Nokware Skincare has cemented its status as an elite, self- made business, widening the seas of clean beauty to guarantee global accessibility. For VP Akyaa Ahwoi, magic is the final ingredient that makes everything come full circle. “She always likes to think of it in

terms of, you know, what’s the magic that we can bring to this, right?” Tutuwa Ahwoi expounds. “It’s sort of become a guiding principle in Nokware, which is with everything, we just try to think of how this can bring more magic to people.” Nokware Skincare is magical indeed. Putting in the time and work to create products wrapped in natural care, economic prosperity, and sustainability is no small feat, but the Nokware team makes it look effortless. There is no better way to represent Africa than by being one of the continent’s creators of change, and Nokware Skincare won’t stop until change seeps into every corner of the cosmetic industry.
