Making timeless clothing that outlives trends is a strong motivator for Anate, but so is creating a legacy and changing the world's reception to African fashion. Anate is aware of a particular aesthetic that people associate with African and Nigerian designers and the current worldview of African fashion. He hopes that with his work, he “can inspire or help people around to see that it's possible to achieve this quality of art or this level of [finery].” The Vicnate No. 7 collection is indeed an achievement of finery, in every sense of the word. In addition to his mission of bringing his work to the global fashion mainstage and strengthening women’s inner confidence through clothing, Anate also hopes to inspire other young Black artists as a positive, hardworking role model, so that “in the future they will get opportunities based on their merits. I'm all for inclusivity, but if you're going to give someone like me an opportunity at all… Give it to them on merit; give it to them because they're good at what they do… because they worked tirelessly and they have a portfolio to match.” As for the future of fashion, Anate “look[s] forward to a time where people like me, Black people, African boys and girls, will get opportunities based on their merit, not because they are colored or that they’re Black.” Anate and his hardworking team are what stars and legacies are made of: boundless dreams, relentless grit, and passion for the study and production of fine art.
