When he first started, he made iPhone cases, a great balance of craft and function. “Great design hidden in a simple shape. It’s what I hope people think when they see my work.” For his Fall/Winter ‘21, he went deep into his Argentine heritage, saying, “Argentines have a unique take on fashion, at times following the buttoned-up polo styles of Brits, at times dressing like high-class hookers. And it’s what’s happening at the intersection of these two that attracts me.” As well as the beautifully crafted leather goods and exquisitely simple cotton or linen women’s wear, I was excited to see some Barbara Kruger- inspired T-shirts on Basil’s website with the slogan “The future belongs to women.” How right he is!
